Counting Rhyme
Counting rhyme was my first project made in the illustration studio of Grażka Lange and Monika Hanulak at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. The world in front of the cabin mixes with the one inside. Are the animals real, or are they just a figment of the little boy's imagination? And what is standing there outside the window?
Deep in the forest stands a tiny hut,
Outside a fawn with eyes softly shut.
A grey hare sits close,
its twin by its side,
Under the huge pine trees, where shadows hide.
A little gnome
hides beneath a mushroom’s shroud.
He counts the animals, one by one, while they gather around, in the soft-setting sun.
